Bel Air, Los Angeles
After moving from NYC and the loft space we designed for them in 2008, these clients bought a mid-century home up at the end of a canyon in Bel-Air, Los Angeles. The large house had recently been (poorly) remodeled and then put back on the market. In addition to the questionable planning and sad detail choices, it also started leaking throughout the house after being put through it’s first big LA rainstorm. What started as a straightforward remodel turned into a gut renovation, with every surface pulled from the studs and re-skinned and waterproofed. While we added a generous entry foyer and re-worked almost every interior space, many of the details and materials harken back to their West 13th Street loft. (We went to great effort to also make everything plumb and level as well!).
