Fieldston House
Nestled in the middle of the quiet Fieldston neighborhood in the Bronx, the 5,500 square foot 90-year-old Tudor style house is nicely perched on a hill with ample sunlight and large trees in the rear. In a dramatic move, we removed the secondary stair from the first to second floors to allow light to penetrate deeper into the previously dark middle of the house. This new opening connects the primary family spaces, the kitchen and living rooms, from the cellar to the attic. The contemporary leanings of the renovation politely counter the house’s preserved historic features while the family’s eclectic sensibility is expressed through their varied objects and furniture.
