Chipotle Headquarters East

While we continued our work with Chipotle developing store prototypes for their global roll-out, we also designed their new East Coast offices to support their expanding leadership and management team. The two floors were differentiated with material palettes suited to their functions: warm wood for the lower-level business operations and cool white for the upper-level creative suite. A dramatic open stair connects open work areas on both floors.

As in the restaurants, we carefully articulated common materials to become highly functional, textural, and intriguing. Shared services such as meeting rooms, coffee stations and printers are contained in a central ‘box’ which is tightly wrapped in Corian panels. The custom computer numerical control (CNC) milled panels provide a seamless durable enclosure that gracefully folds around corners and incorporates necessary elements like signs, light fixtures, and electrical devices. In open work areas, glossy white MDF ceiling panels have perforated patterns increasing in density in response to the seating arrangements below to absorb sound where most needed while in the conference room, grooved walnut wood boards are joined to create a floating ceiling with integral lighting over the table creating an intimate meeting place. We also designed custom doors, light fixtures, and furniture to complete the environment.
