A family of four purchased this Tudor house to come back ‘home’ after several years in Los Angeles. Nestled in the middle of the quiet Fieldston neighborhood in the Bronx, the large house is nicely perched on a hill with ample light and large trees in the rear. In a dramatic move, we removed the secondary stair from the first to second floors to allow light to penetrate deeper into the previously dark middle of the house. This new opening connects the primary family spaces, the kitchen and living rooms, from the cellar to the attic. The family has a very eclectic sensibility, allowing the more contemporary leanings of the renovation to politely counter-point their varied objects and furniture. Their friend Molly Luetkemeyer decorated and furnished the house.
